Hiya again
I will get round to posting some photographs taken in the company of my second visitor, my lovely goddaughter, who came to spend a week with me. It was just wonderful to have her and to be able to spend some real "quality time" together for the first time in, oh, at least twenty years, I think.
But today I need to plug a wee event that will take place here in Oban next Friday evening: the launch of a campaign to make "OBAN PLASTIC BAG FREE!"
If you're in the area, do drop in and come and see the many superb alternatives to the ubiquitous one-use plastic bags that are blighting our environment.
Friday, August 29, 2008, 7-9pm, Glencruitten Church Centre, Oban:
Julie Fairbrass of GRAB Trust (Group for Recycling in Argyll & Bute) and Astrid Horward of Eco-Promotion Oban will be showing a film, Synthetic Seas, on the damage of plastic (bags) to the environment; and there will be a talk on alternatives, as well as hands-on examples of the same.
We're hoping for loads of people -- shopkeepers, shoppers, tourists, old and young!
Look forward to seeing you there :)
PS: So many towns and cities have already gone plastic bag free. China has banned the distribution of plastic bags for free -- the least we can do is pay for what we get, don't you think?
I look forward to seeing your comments.
