Carnival impressions

Carnival impressions of Berne -- weeks ago!

... a creative idea for someone needing crutches during the carnival period. I loved the costumes of these two young ladies, the attention to detail: even their tiny handbag/purse was made from the wasp-striped fabric!
Some costumes were truly stunning, but there were lots of people who didn't bother dressing up. Taking pictures in the dark and being jostled got rather less stunning results, but I'll call some of these photos experimental pix, ok?

While some people went to tremendous lengths creating their costumes, ...
... others just put on a weird wig and that was that:
Bandstands accommodated impressive combos -- some of them playing exceedingly well. I wish I had attended the cortège that Saturday afternoon, but those who went got drenched in one of the worst downpours of rain the city had seen this year.
At one stage, my friend and I went indoors, into the Carnival Cellar. Where we found the Carnival Bear:
What's left of it all the next day, in bright sunlight...
Until next year!
