A kind of anniversary

Hiya again
It's been exactly four years to the day that I met someone who was to change my life in unexpected ways. One of them was being introduced to the joys of blogging. I resisted for a while but, as you can see, I have since become quite seriously addicted (I'd like to say "developed to a fine art", but there are so many blogs out there that are much better organised, much more aesthetically pleasing, much more like what I'd have if only I really focused on this -- but there you go: I'm me, a bit chaotic, a bit obsessive, but basically quite harmless).
Even if comments to my musings and photos etc are sparse, I do know that there are quite a few people out there who click into this blog from time to time.
I thank you for your interest, and I thank R.A.E. for having inspired me to take up this hobby, for helping me stretch my wings as a photographer further, and for being a great friend since those chance encounters on our way by CalMac ferry and bus across Mull to and a week later the same way back from Iona.
To you all I dedicate this photo showing my favourite flower, ever, the elusive fritillary, which I first encountered on Iona in April 2004, two years before I took this photo.

I have to admit that I look at your blog on a semi regular basis.

We have some things in common in that I too arrived back in the UK and Scotland approximately the same time as you did. I also spent a large part of my adult life living in German speaking Europe (Munich). I discovered your blog after I made a kind of pilgrimage to Oban as part of my rediscovering Scotland.

I don't comment because I don't feel as though I am your intended audience, indeed I feel a little weird, a little like a peeping tom, spying on something that maybe I shouldn't. I always feel I should apologise for being here but I do enjoy reading about your take on your adopted home of Oban and appreciate your comments on the cultural differences between the part of Europe you lived previously and Scotland.

Hi Ron
Lovely to "meet" you here!
I was back on Iona for not quite a week and the fritillaries were in full glory there. A good week, very creative in many ways. This here recovering Protestant/Agnostic/pagan found a lot to think about.
Also, I came home with a disc full of photos but lots else on so have not yet sorted through my pix.
Watch this space :)

PS: Oh, and very soon now my true 2nd anniversary of arriving here comes up: 8th May, yay!
(Have just finished watching Avatar on DVD, please forgive if my English has suffered in the process.)
