Schadenfreude

Hiya all

Allow me to gloat -- I just found this at http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/08012010/36/swiss-driver-s-pound-180-408-speeding-fine-0.html:

Swiss driver's £180,408 speeding fine

In Switzerland, speeding fines are means tested and it's proved very costly for one millionaire driver.
Clocked at 100km/h (62mph) driving through a Swiss village, the Ferrari Testarossa-driving millionaire has been punished with a 299,000 Swiss Francs fine - the equivalent of about £180,408.
The penalty was handed down by a Swiss court in St Gallen, Eastern Switzerland, with the court calculating the amount by taking into account the unnamed defendant's wealth of around £14m.
Speaking of the judgement the court said in a statement: "The accused ignored elementary traffic rules with a powerful vehicle out of a pure desire for speed."
Recorded at up to 137km/h (86mph) on country roads the defendant's fine surpasses the previous record of 111,000 Swiss Francs (£66,956) given to a speeding Porsche driver in Zurich in 2008.
**** end of quote ****

I wonder if the Scottish authorities have anything of the kind. A great way to increase public revenue! I can vouch for at least four or five dangerous drivers racing their powerful cars through Oban in the past several months. Amazed that they have not been clocked yet.
