Hello again
No, I've still not had time to upload my photos of Vals and elsewhere, process them and then post them here. Perhaps next weekend.
As some of you may know, I got digital TV a little while ago, which means I can watch the old BEEB programmes, BBC World, BBC Prime, BBC One and BBC Two (plus, of course a couple hundred more TV and radio stations, only very few of which I actually ever watch or listen to).
Sometime last week I picked up the following story on the BBC's "Grumpy Old Women" (hilarious, by the way, I was in tears of laughter most of the time -- what a feisty lot us menopausal women can be. Fantastic!).
I thought you might appreciate it as well and I'm sure the BEEB won't mind my reproducing it here -- I'm actually promoting them, aren't I?
Here's the story (not verbatim but it did run roughly like this):
A man is taking down a woman's particulars for a registration form.
"Is it Miss or Mrs?," he asks her.
"Ms," she replies.
"Sorry, what did you say, Miss or Mrs?"
"Ms," she repeats.
"Sorry again, what was that?"
"Ms," she repeats again, adding patiently, "it's a neutral form of address that doesn't give away the woman's marital status."
"Oh, brilliant! They should have this for men, too!"
Have a great day, whoever you are, wherever you are!

Hello all
Thanks for your comments -- sorry I've been remiss in posting photos of Vals, and second post on Môtiers/NE, and photos of jumbley art exhibition at Payerne/FR, and and and -- depending on the weather I'm hoping to catch up a little next weekend.
Promise!
Well?
Broken promise!
Well, I said I was hoping. Meanwhile, why don't you have a look at my post about the Aletsch Glacier (19 Aug 2007). That should be compensation enough for now.
Till soon. Must grab some sleep or I'll be useless tomorrow. Still juggling a double-booked schedule of work plus voluntary NGO work... I really must be mad!
Oh, a propos of Vals, I was at the spa for a few days last summer and thoroughly enjoyed the privileges that being a bona-fide guest brings: early access to the pools, all kinds of little extras. The rooms are small but functional and quite comfortable. The spa itself is every bit as magical as the videos posted by the anonymous commentator show. I love the combination of dark and light, quiet and sound-filled. The midnight swim is particularly romantic on a starry-skied new moon night, but only if you're with that special, significant other, or with a few really close friends. I just wish I had had either that time last year. Ah well... can't have everything. Still a great memory.
