Lagging behind

Hi there

Badly lagging behind here -- there is so much to catch up with after my brief trip to Scotland in late November. Also, last week the painters swept through my flat, doing up both my sitting room and my bedroom. Massive upheaval, dust everywhere -- it's worse than moving house! But the newly painted rooms look stunning, much bigger than before (probably just because the walls are still empty and pristine). I have taken this opportunity to rearrange some of my furniture -- it really IS like moving house -- and to get rid of a lot of stuff I've never touched in six, seven, eight years. Trying to simplify my life, trying to create space. It's fun to at least toy with the idea of giving everything up and letting everything go. (Not to worry, I am planning to hang on to a few of my favourites, my "dragon ring", for example.)

More later -- it's late and I'm still way behind schedule on translation work. Off to bed.

PS: Winter has arrived in the Swiss mountains: St. Moritz 50 cm, Bernese Oberland 20-40 cm -- overnight! Yeah!
